As many of you already know, Brazil is a country where music seems to run in the Brazilians’ veins. Rhythm and swing are everywhere, and so are suites of unique, intimate, and soothing sounds. Brazil has a style of music for each taste. SFJAZZ, true to its mission of bringing the best of world music to the Bay Area, always brings some Brazilian music. In its 2014-2015 Season, however, there is nothing less than four of our finest musicians in the lineup.
Starting with Eliane Elias, a lyrical pianist and singer, who will celebrate bossa nova and the seminal work of Stan Getz and João Gilberto in her first concert. In her other three concerts, she will navigate through the samba and other Brazilian styles, as well as in the fine jazz of Bill Evans and Chet Baker.
After her, it is Caetano Veloso’s turn, with his unique voice and style, rooted in the Tropicalia movement he co-founded in the 60s with Gilberto Gil. Caetano has no fear of trying new ideas, which made his music accessible internationally.
Milton Nascimento is the next. One of the member of Clube da Esquina, along with other Minas state musicians, he has an unforgettable voice and recorded with many important names of the world music.
Already into 2015, SFJAZZ will gift us with Gilberto Gil and the immense light this musician, singer, composer has. A co-founder of the Tropicalia movement, Gil has been successful in creating music that became part of the international landscape.
Do not miss the chance to see them all! Four in one round is a big blessing!
